Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how this website (the “Site”), the official author website of Jan Coverstone, handles information about the people who visit it. It is maintained by Jan Coverstone and is written to be read plainly, without legal jargon.

By using the Site you acknowledge the practices described here. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the contact form or newsletter signup.

The Site does not require you to create an account, and it does not sell books or process payments. Information is collected only when you deliberately submit it:

• Contact form — your name, email address, and the content of your message, so that a reply can be sent.
• Newsletter signup — your name (optional) and email address, so that occasional updates about new books, teaching, and ministry can be sent to you.

The contact and newsletter forms do not store your details in a database on this Site. When you submit a form, your browser or mail application opens a pre-filled email addressed to the author, which you then send yourself. This means your message travels through your own email provider, and the author receives it in an ordinary inbox.

Because the email is sent from your account, the author will see the email address you send from, along with anything you include in the message.

Information you send is used only for the purpose you sent it for:

• To respond to questions, speaking invitations, ministry enquiries, and messages about the books.
• To send newsletter updates to readers who have asked for them.
• To keep a record of correspondence for reference.

Your personal information is not sold, rented, or traded. It is not shared with advertisers, and it is not used to build advertising profiles. Newsletter details are used for the newsletter and nothing else.

To keep the author's inbox usable, the forms on this Site use automated abuse protection. This includes a hidden field that ordinary visitors never see and a check on how quickly a form was completed. Where Google reCAPTCHA is enabled, your interaction with the reCAPTCHA challenge is processed by Google in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service; reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information for the sole purpose of distinguishing people from automated traffic.

This Site does not set advertising or tracking cookies of its own. Third-party services embedded or linked from the Site — such as Google reCAPTCHA when enabled, or the hosting provider's standard request logs — may set technical cookies or record ordinary request information such as an IP address for security and reliability purposes.

The Site links to third-party services, including Amazon product pages for each book, Facebook, and YouTube. Those services operate under their own privacy policies and terms, and the author has no control over the information they collect once you leave this Site. Please review their policies before sharing information with them.

Emails you send are retained in the author's mailbox for as long as they remain useful for correspondence, and newsletter addresses are retained until you ask to be removed. You may ask at any time for your message or your newsletter subscription to be deleted.

You may ask what information the author holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, or ask to be removed from the newsletter. Send your request to jan@jancoverstone.com and it will be handled promptly. Every newsletter email will also honour a simple reply asking to unsubscribe.

The Site is intended for a general adult readership and is not directed to children under 13. Personal information is not knowingly collected from children. If you believe a child has sent information through this Site, please contact the author so it can be removed.

Reasonable care is taken to protect the information the author receives, including keeping correspondence within a password-protected email account. Please note, however, that no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so please avoid sending sensitive personal details through a website form or email.

This policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in how the Site works. When it is updated, the effective date at the top of the page will change. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
